Autistica, the UK’s leading autism research and campaigning charity, are a long standing client of over 10 years. Recent highlights include:
Social media election campaign
This was a campaign leading up to the 2024 general election for use across their social media platforms to inform followers about how to challenge their local candidates. A branded carousel which was clear and easy to read paved the way (for the in-house team) to create a more consistent identity to their posts moving forwards.
NDEI sub brand development
The NDEI is the flagship initiative by Autistica to increase neurodiverse representation in the workplace with their gold standard, evidence-based framework. Participating organisations get a confidential, scored report and roadmap for change with goals to help them support and sustainably build neurodiverse teams. Those organisations with the highest standards in neuroinclusive policies, practices and procedures are awarded gold, silver and bronze awards.
With the NDEI name already agreed and registered we were brought in to create a sub-brand that worked harmoniously alongside the Autistica brand. I quickly identified the need for a simple and compact mark that remained strong and effective when shared widely and used in a large variety of applications. The completed designs were carefully crafted and compact with the right balance of options to work in any space. The accompanying guidelines document gave clear, concise instructions for best practice. In addition, the graphics and colour palette complimented the Autistica brand and the bronze, silver and gold theme.
The NDEI launched successfully in 2024, attracting 118 organisations across 10 sectors, achieving 100% participant satisfaction, and continuing to grow into its third cycle in 2026
Annual report and accounts
For this job I needed to complement sound photography selection with an adept use of the brand. The statutory sign-off process demanded the strictest accuracy. This cross-over of thoughtful creative input and forensic attention to detail is an area in which I excel.
Case for support
Autistica approached us to create a case for support brochure that would persuade high value prospects to come on board and encourage existing supporters to deepen their engagement.
Working alongside a writing partner, we together teased out a compelling narrative, built around the charity’s Goals for 2030. Our driving thought was to talk about these goals in the context of the type of world they will create for Autistic people – and to show these outcomes as ‘snapshots from the future’.
To dramatise this idea, we created individual ‘snapshots’ for each goal, and nested these within a smart A5 folder, with a contextualising intro and a supporting leaflet fleshing out the detail of the goals and the ask. We chose real-world images paired with confident forward-looking headlines to convey the positive outcomes Autistica is working towards. And used a graphic device reminiscent of a photo corner to see through the snapshot analogy
The overall effect was a compelling view of the more positive world that donors could play a very real part in creating – at once inspiring and achievable. The client was delighted with the result and so were the Trustees:
‘I just want to say that the board went absolutely wild when we handed out the major donor brochure today. “Best thing we’ve ever produced” said one particularly hard to impress Trustee.’
